As a volunteer, one of the most valuable things you can do for us is to help us find good permanent collection sites for our barrels. We collect a great number of phones from national sponsors, such as Whole Foods Markets, Navy Federal Credit Union, and Shop-Rite Supermarkets, so grocery stores and banks are obviously good choices. But others are great choices too! Among the best are:

• Police Stations
• Libraries
• Independent Cell Phone Dealers
• Gyms and Health Clubs
• Large Municipal Buildings
• Discount Stores

Virtually anyplace that has very high traffic and repeat visits by the same customers makes a good permanent collection site.

Because the permanent site sponsor agrees to allow us to leave the barrel there more or less indefinitely, we provide the barrel without charge, and pick up the shipping charges. Permanent sites are subject to the approval of the Volunteer Coordinator, so if you are at all uncertain about a given site’s suitability, please check first.

Once you have recruited a permanent site, we need your continued involvement. We want you to work with the sponsor to insure the barrel has a high-visibility placement. We will ship the barrel to your home to help insure this, and replacement barrels will come to you as well, so you will “swap them out” with the full ones at the sponsor’s site. Illustrated instructions will be sent to you with replacement barrels.

Permanent barrels are a little bit different from the one shown here. They sit on a stand, and are a little shorter.
