Secure the Call is always in need of volunteer help in our efforts to keep cell phones out of landfills and get them into the hands of those that need a 911 emergency phone.  Here are just a few ways to get involved:

Organize a drive in your area: On your own, or in a group, collect cell phones from your friends and relatives to donate to Secure the Call. This can often include finding barrel placement sites.

Find cell phone drives or permanent barrel placement sites: Find one or more locations that will host a Secure the Call cell phone donation barrel for four to six weeks (temporary barrels) or permanently.  Talk to local businesses and find stores, libraries, police stations, apartment complexes, etc. that are willing to permanently host one of our collection barrels at their location. Click here for more information about hosting a permanent barrel.

Spread the word about Secure the Call: Join our outreach efforts by helping to identify new community partners, speaking at local environmental or advocacy events or group meetings. Pass along information about Secure the Call to local listserves, volunteer sites, and your social network. Assist in
publicity about new barrel placement and drop off locations for used phones.

Join our long-term volunteer program and become our volunteer representative in your area: As a nationally based organization, these volunteers are key to our continued growth. You will receive support from the main office to find and identify new community partners as well as barrel placement sites. You will be the face of Secure the Call checking on barrel placement and program awareness with our permanent barrel partners. You can assist with local media coverage and outreach. You can be our
link to local civic, religious, and service groups interested in furthering our mission.
